Scouting offers challenge and adventure to 400,000 young people and 100,000 adults across the UK. We believe in helping our Members fulfil their potential by working in teams, learning by doing and thinking for themselves. We give people of every background the chance to stretch themselves, learn new skills and make lifelong friends.
At our group in Short Heath, we have around 60 members all taking part in activities from the beavers aged (6 – 8 years) learning all about healthy diets, how to use a map and much more.
Then we have the cubs (aged 8 – 10yrs) going on bug hunts learning all about ways to camp and again much much more.
Then the scouts (aged 10 – 14 yrs) learning about the stars, camping, hill walking, rock climbing and much more and the explorers (14- 18 yrs) who plan their own camps and expeditions under guidance and last but not least Network (18-25yrs) who at the moment help out all the sections but are now looking at completing their work to get the Queens Scout Award, the highest earnable award in scouting.
Other things we do at 1st Short Heath involve BBQ’s, walks, camps and activity days across all the sections. Please feel free to navigate the site and sections, you may be interested in joining or helping with us, if so use our contact page to get in touch.
